En mi humilde opinión el álbum más importante de 2009 fue Steve Lehman - Travail, Transformation, and Flow (Pi Recordings). Este disco, potencialmente, podría cambiar la forma en que se percibe el jazz tanto compositivamente como medio de improvisación. Obviamente hubo algunos álbumes fantásticos lanzados el pasado año incluyendo los de Vijay Iyer (Vijay Iyer Trio - Historicity, ACT Music), John Hollenbeck (John Hollenbeck - Eternal Interlude, Sunnyside), Steve Kuhn (Steve Kuhn - Mostly Coltrane, ECM), Darcy James Argue (Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society - Infernal Machine, New Amsterdan), entre otros. Pero para mí, el lanzamiento de Steve (Lehman) expresa un rico y vibrante futuro para esta música.
